Finished Size: 65 cm x 89 cm This dragon quilt wall hanging was stitched with the needleturn applique technique, but it would also look great using other forms of applique. This full size applique pattern includes full instructions for the needleturn applique technique with optional embroidery embellishments. To highlight the different segments of the dragons back, small glass seed beads, sequins or french knots can be added. Using a golden thread fly stitch embroidery was added down the dragons wings in between the different segments. And using green stranded embroidery cotton, fly stitch was also added down the castle walls to suggest a climbing vine. This quilt pattern also contains easy quilting lines that were added in the background, to suggest clouds, and other castle turrets and buildings. Needleturn is a hand sewing technique, the pieces are not fused to the background, they are sewn on by hand, using a small hemming stitch turning the edges under. (Although, you can of course make it up in your method of choice, the instructions supplied are for that of the needleturn technique). Using basic patchwork for the background and borders, the applique is then applied.
